DO IT! if you are super shy, you could e-mail him or text him (but that could be awkward if you see him at work) just grow some balls for a few minutes and go up to him and be like, "i was wondering if you wanna get coffee (or dinner) sometime?" really, the worse thing he can say is no and then you are back to the same position you were before...
