Band / musician advice?

Has anyone ever been in this same situation?... but first off lemme explain and introduce myself. I play electric bass and have an acoustic guitar i also play. I guess you could say that guitar is my main insturment, but when it comes to being in a band, my insturment is the bass guitar. But anyways, its a really long story but me and my friend decided we would start a band cuz he played the drums and i play bass guitar. Anyways our influences are or atleast were green day, blink182, screeching weasel and stuff like that. anyways... Im beguinning to be really discouraged because my friend is now grounded for 3 months and now its just me... plus we could never happen to find a guitarist and im still trying to look for one for us to use.... and literally no one in his or my school plays guitar... and now im just stuck by myself... I am desperate to just write music with 2 other people but cant find anyone.... should i just give up? I dont know what to do...
